(CNN NEWS)-Pakistan has strongly condemned the increasing Israeli military actions in the Middle East, highlighting concerns over civilian casualties and violations of international law.
A statement released by Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Saturday criticised Israel’s ongoing attacks on civilian populations, describing them as “unbridled” and indicative of a “disregard for international law.”
The statement expressed alarm over recent Israeli operations in Lebanon. It added that Israeli forces had violated Lebanon’s sovereignty by targeting civilian areas and destabilising the region.
Pakistan extended its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of these attacks and to the people of Lebanon.
The Foreign Office specifically condemned the recent killing of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli strike, labeling it a significant escalation in the already volatile region.
Pakistan’s statement called on the United Nations Security Council to intervene, urging it to restrain Israel from further military actions and to uphold international law to restore peace in the Middle East.
Pakistan remains committed to supporting the people of Lebanon and advocating for peaceful resolutions to the conflicts in the region, the Foreign Office said.

The Hezbollah Resistance Movement had earlier on Saturday confirmed the death of Nasrallah.
Israeli attack targeted Hezbollah’s command center in Lebanon, followed by additional airstrikes on Saturday, intensifying the conflict between Tel Aviv and the militant group.
Earlier in June, Hamas’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in Tehran, Iran’s capital. The group governing Gaza blamed Israel for the killing, stating that Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when the building they were staying in was struck.
Since the Hamas attack on October 7 last year, Israel has continued its military operations in Gaza, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
Over the past year, Israeli strikes have resulted in the deaths of more than 41,000 people, predominantly women and children, and injured over 95,500, according to local health authorities.
The ongoing blockade has displaced nearly the entire population of beseiged Gaza, leading to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies.
Israel also faces accusations of committing genocide in Gaza, with the International Court of Justice currently addressing these allegations.
